The best route

The most popular and scenic route runs via Kochi → Muvattupuzha → Kothamangalam → Neriamangalam → Adimali → Munnar. After Neriamangalam the road begins to climb, hugging the Periyar river and passing through forest and spice country before the tea estates appear.

Tip: fill fuel and grab breakfast before Adimali, as options thin out as you climb. Start early (by 7–8 am) to enjoy clear morning views and avoid afternoon mist.
